FAQ

We answered a few questions for you

Are you certified as Organic?

We do not use chemical pesticides or fertilisers on our soil or crops, we use organic growing methods, and grow from organic seed mostly from a local supplier, Tamar Organics. However, we are not currently organically certified as we do not want to pass that significant cost onto our customers. We are happy to chat more to you about our methods and principles, or for you to arrange a visit to our market garden (strictly by appointment only, COVID restrictions apply).

Can I volunteer at the garden?

We would love to welcome volunteers in the future, however at this time we are not offering voluntary work opportunities.

Do you do veg boxes?

As we are a developing business, we only have a limited number of veg boxes available at present. They can be purchased directly from us, or through the Tamar Valley Food Hub when available. Get in touch or order direct through the Tamar Valley Food Hub

Where can I buy your veg?

At present we mainly supply customers through the Tamar Valley Food Hub, an online farmer’s market hosted by the Open Food Network.

I’m a chef/restaurant, can I buy from you?

We would love to work with more chefs and restaurants, and would be happy to discuss growing custom crops for you.

What does no-dig mean?

No-dig is a horticultural method which focuses on optimising soil health in order to promote healthy plants and a flourishing ecosystem (above and below ground), with minimal negative impact on the land. Rather than digging up the soil every year to prepare the beds, a layer of mulch is added on top instead (in our case, green waste compost, our own compost, and manure from local farms). This feeds the soil with nutrients; worms bring the compost down into the earth and by not breaking up the soil through digging, the delicate and intricate network of soil microbiota remains intact. Microbiota are essential for soil health, and healthy soil grows healthy, strong plants with less need for chemicals and fertilisers.
